Power Feast The 41st Annual Daytona Turkey Run
Daytona Beach FLThursday, November 27, 2014
For many rodders, resto-modders, and automotive enthusiasts of all kinds, late November doesn’t just mean feasting with family and friends, or overdosing on football. It means that it’s time to head out to an event that fills the Daytona International Speedway’s infield--the Daytona Turkey Run--even if it means digging out of a snowdrift or two before leaving home.
This year’s 41st annual event started off with cold northerly winds on Thursday and Friday that made one think that ice fishing contests on Lake Lloyd were also going to be part of the event. (They weren’t.)But the weather warmed up over the rest of the weekend, and the cars and trucks rolled in by the thousands, and the spectators arrived by the tens of thousands.
This year, there were over 6,000 participating rides, and cars and trucks 1980-older were welcome as well as any year Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Firebird, VIper, Charger or Challenger. That meant there was something for just about everyone...street rods, restomods, rat rods, Kustoms, restored cruisers, Gassers, and lots more!
2015 brings not just one, but TWO Turkey Runs to Daytona, with a Spring Turkey Run set for the last weekend of March, and the 42nd annual Turkey Run next Thanksgiving weekend.
