Cars and Coffee Takes A Break

Cars and Coffee (Irvine) has been a very successful, weekly, car enthusiast gathering that featured, “Cars you won’t see the other 6 days of the week”. It all started 8 years ago with a group of car people moving from the Crystal Cove Promenade to the Ford Motor Co.’s Irvine office parking lot and they began “Cars and Coffee”. Hosted every Saturday by Ford with Mazda and Taco Bell volunteering their parking facilities for a total of 900 display car capacity! Official event hours are 7am –9am. Cars start arriving around 5:30am to get a good spot. They are directed into the event by the all-volunteer staff. The unofficial organizer is retired Ford public relations executive John Clinart. John said, (Cars and Coffee, Irvine) “has simply grown too big to manage anymore and will cease for an indefinite period.” The last gathering was on Saturday, Dec 20, 2014.
On Saturday, Dec 20, 2014 cars started to arrive about 5:30am and by 6:30 participants where being directed to the 600 car overflow lot. An estimated 4,000 spectators were filling the space between the cars. Some of the classic brands on-hand were, Sunbeam Tigers, Honda NSXs, Cobras, MOPARS, VWs, Hotrods, BMWs, Alpha Romeos, Aston Martin DB9s, Lotus, Mustangs, Jaguars, Porsches, Spykers, Ferraris, Lamborghini, Maserati, Corvettes, Nissan GT-Rs, Bugatti, Healy’s, Morgans, Triumphs, Camaros. As the cars began to leave, spectators lined the street to watch them head home for the last time. By 9:00am this area of Irvine was quiet and peaceful till work on Monday morning.
