This year marks the museum's 50th anniversary. From its humble beginnings as a few barns, it has grown to include 20 separate buildings housing some of the most beautiful cars in the world. The original series of barns were disassembled, transported and reassembled on the museum grounds as themed displays for the various cars brands. The barns themselves are beautiful; one of the most stunning is the two story Campania Barn which was moved over 45 miles to be reconstructed at the museum. This barn dates back to 1897 and was a fully working barn until its removal and reconstruction at the museum.

Over the years more and more buildings were added, but all have their special identity and accurate design themes. For example, the Franklin Collection building is styled after a 1918 dealership. The Model A Museum is styled after a 1928 dealership. The Cadillac-LaSalle Museum is the very modernistic design of an actual Cadillac dealership from 1948. The Lincoln Museum is an accurate replica of a well-known downtown Detroit dealership from 1937. All of this construction is on a well-planned layout which affords beautiful uncrowded open areas, walkways and, most important, room to grow. However, with 90 acres of land it will not get crowded any time soon.

During the year the museum offers many festivals and a venue for numerous national club gatherings. If you ever have the chance to visit, which I strongly suggest, please allow yourself plenty of time, as this visit only covered about one half of the museum grounds. Enjoy the pics!
