Pumpkin Run
Little Egg Harbor, NJSaturday, November 5, 2016
I’m not sure how one would describe the colossus that is Pumpkin Run, but I can say, if you like cars, trucks, motorcycles, food, steam tractors, farm equipment, pumpkin chunkin, jet engines, checking out decaying relics, and walking your legs off, then this is the event for you.
The event is held on the site of the former Flemmings Auto Wreckers site, and there were probably 500-700 vehicles on display, not including some decaying relics from the days when this location was a working junkyard.
In addition to the vast number of vehicles to see, there were food vendors, log sawing equipment from the turn of the century, and an operating steam tractor.
Though not serving food, there was even an Art Deco era Diner on the premises, and it was open to the public. Show attendees could come in, sit down, and eat food they had purchased from one of the vendors at the show.
If one somehow ran out of vehicles to look at, there was even a swap meet which, while not sporting much in the way of antique auto parts, did have some items the attendees might have found useful.
All in all, this is one interesting, varied, and entertaining event.
