Wayne's Speed Shop Annual Toys 4 Tots Car Show
South Amboy, NJMonday, December 5, 2016
The annual “Toys 4 Tots” Car Show was held at “Wayne’s Speed Shop” on Rt 35, in South Amboy New Jersey as it has been for many years now; however, this year, the ‘Speed Shop’ was officially closed for business, even though the show went on as scheduled. Sources close to the show promoters did state that there will be a 2017 show, but as of this writing, the location has not yet been determined.
The show staff, and Bryan, owner of the property on which Wayne’s Speed Shop is located, outdid themselves as usual, providing not only show venue, but free coffee and donuts to all the show participants. Attendance this year was down a bit, and one member of the show staff surmised that the cold temperatures probably deterred a good number of potential participants from coming this year. This is not to say there wasn’t a substantial number of participants this year, as there were approximately 100 vehicles in attendance this year.
In addition to the show, there was also an auction of donated items, which helped raise money for the “Toys 4 Tots” organization run by the Marines.
By show’s end there were 3 vehicles loaded with various toys, which the Marines will later give to children who otherwise would have had nothing this holiday season.
Another great show! Kudos to all involved in getting this show off the ground, and to the Marines who ensure that those who have nothing will still have a happy holiday.
