Signal Hill Car Show
Signal Hill, CASunday, August 6, 2017
The City of Signal Hill has a rich and colorful history. Today the city is a well-balanced and diverse community of over 11,400 people. The City Hall and Community Center are located in the beautiful 10-acre Signal Hill Park. Because it was used as a signaling point, the early Spanish settlers called the hill “Loma Sental,” meaning “Signal Hill.”
For 27 years, the Sultans Car Club car show has been on the grass at Signal Hill Park. This annual outing of the classic car club has proven to be a signature event in So Cal. The Sultans Car Club of Long Beach, CA has been around for over 5 decades. Today the club is still going strong with 30+ members. They are always looking for new members with mild custom cars. The cars must have at least 3 modifications.
The guys who came from the Inland Empire enjoyed cooler temps. The morning weather was cool but warmed up soon and stayed sunny all day with temps in the 80’s. One of the unique things about this park is the old, well maintained, odd variety of trees that provide shade for over 225 pre-’75 cars. The best thing about this show is the diverse styles of cars, classics, bombs, street rods, trucks, customs, and hot rods.
“Johnny Rocket & the V-Twins” provided great live Rock & Roll music all day. A very tasty Sultans BBQ was available, and it included pie! A nice selection of 12 or so interesting vendor booths lined the parking lot. The event also had a raffle, 50/50, and the “special” car awards included some that were handmade.
Thanks for the show!
