10th Annual Texas Hoedown
New Caney, TXSaturday, March 10, 2018
After moving the show to a different city a few years ago, the event is back in New Caney, Texas for the 10th annual Texas Hoedown and it was everything and more of what the hot rod community has come to expect from their host the Hellions Car Club.
The event was held at Albert Salas Park, a sprawling facility with a huge playground for the kids, buildings for the indoor activities and plenty of parking on the grounds for all the cars. Dennis Gage from My Classic Car was the special guest this year and spent time taking pictures with fans and signing autographs as well as filming an upcoming episode for My Classic Car.
The show was pre 1972 customs, rods, rats, muscles, bombs, bugs, traditional choppers and bobbers plus a whole lot more. Music was provided by The Octanes from Austin, Texas who hit everybody with their big rockabilly beat and all the way from Fort Wayne, Indiana was the Left Lane Cruisers laying down their blues rock groves to keep folks in that hot rod mood. The Texas Hoedown also holds one of the largest pin-up contests in the state with cash and prizes. There were plenty of vendors on hand dishing up food and custom culture to suit your needs but if you like your entertainment a little rough around the edges then the roller derby action or the mini bike races are perhaps more your style.
Local support from sponsors like Octane and Iron, RB Custom Choppers, Jim Carnifax Custom Pin Striping and many others help make shows like this successful. The Texas Hoedown always brings out the best hot rods and customs from all around Texas and this year did not disappoint again. I only see bigger and better shows ahead for the Texas Hoedown.
