ENGLISHTOWN/RACEWAY PARK FALL CAR SHOW/SWAP MEET
Englishtown, NJSaturday, September 29, 2018
In what seemed to be an almost unbelievable occurrence, the weather for the Fall Englishtown Car Show/Swap Meet was nearly picture perfect. After a summer of rain outs, the fall event at Raceway Park had only one partially bad weather day on early Friday, but by Saturday, it was a bit chilly in the early morning, but sunny and warm throughout the rest of the day.
The show vehicle turnout was moderate, despite the weather, and the factor contributing to the lower than normal turnout could well have been the number of other Shows scheduled on the same day. The swap meet was mostly a used part and non-automotive stuff mix, which I believe was the result of the modern era of click and send Internet ordering ease. There were some quality vendors though, such as Forshey Wholesale, who sells automotive service items at generally lower prices than the stores.
While the show participant numbers weren’t near what was seen in years past, there were still plenty to see, and for the car show participants, a much easier entry on to the show field was provided this year by eliminating the debacle created by combing the vendor and show car entrances. The show vehicles went back to entering through Gate 4, and the vendors and spectators came in through Gate 3.
For those who are wondering, there are a Spring and Fall Car Show/Swap Meet scheduled for 2019, and the dates are on the 2018 show flyer.
