Allentown Automania
Allentown, PASaturday, January 19, 2019
The annual Allentown Pennsylvania indoor Swap Meet (Automania) was held again this weekend, and while the danger of imminent demise while traveling to and from the event deterred some from attending, the attendance still good, though many left early due to the dire threat of death and dismemberment in the approaching weather apocalypse.
The dealer participation was also lighter than usual; in their case, the simple hassles of unloading and loading in inclement weather could have kept some of the smaller dealers away. Most of the big guns were at the Swap Meet though, including Bumper Boyz and several other paint and body material suppliers, service item suppliers, etc.
Yours truly managed to score some Alligator Clip Test Leads, as it seems the ones I have dematerialize over time, and cannot be found when needed.
After we left Automania, we stopped at the Merchant Mall across town for some model train perusing, but our usual stop of KD Auctions had about 1/3 their normal spread of “O” gauge trains.
We departed Merchant Mall around 4:00 p.m. and headed home, roads still clear, but numerous ominous warning posted on the electronic Department of Transportation signs announcing a total commercial vehicle ban in effect through tomorrow (Sunday). The trip home was quite uneventful, and other than having had someone report the vehicle of one my son’s friends as an “abandoned vehicle,” there were no other issues to report in the hometown. We arrived home around 5:30 pm, at which time we unloaded our small purchases.
