Cruisin Ocean City

This was the trip that almost didn’t happen. On Monday May 13th, I replaced a bad Master Cylinder on my 1976 Pontiac Trans Am, and then found out the Power Brake Booster had quit. I spent most of Tuesday calling EVERYWHERE I could think of, with all the sources I tried, stating they could get me a Power Brake Booster, but not until Thursday May 16th. After securing a source for a used unit, not my preference at all, I then got a phone call from my Son, who through a friend of ousr who has a Custom Shop in Manville NJ, Smokie’s Customs, sourced us a NEW Power Brake Booster for Wednesday May 15th .
I drove up to our friend’s Shop, paid him for the Booster on Wednesday, and headed home. As soon as I got home, I took the new Booster out of the Box, gave it a quickie paint job, and started to attempt to remove the old one. First conclusion, this was going to be a pain in the arse job. Second conclusion, that Booster went on before the nose of the car went on, or the Engine Cradle went in at the Factory. When accessing the Bolts, we could get a 1/16th of an inch turn on each one. My Son arrived around 4:00 p.m., and he sensing I was not a happy camper, and about to possibly damage or break something, took over, along with a friend who stopped by a little later. They thrashed on this Booster removal and replace for 6 hours, and at 10:00 p.m. I test drove the car, it was good.
We left around 9:00 a.m. on May 16th for Maryland, and except for a fuel stop, and a quick roadside inspection, because every time I caused the Transmission in my T/A to downshift 4th to 3rd, it would create a haze from Transmission Fluid hitting the Exhaust, we otherwise didn’t stop to till we got to Ocean City Maryland at the Convention Center. I picked up my Show Passes and Goodie Bag, bought a couple of Show T-Shirts, and headed for our Apartment. The roadside inspection by the way did not reveal any catastrophic issues, a little wiping, and check of the Fluid level and condition, and off we went.
Once at the Apartment, I rechecked the Transmission situation, no more evidence of Fluid blown out of the Overflow Tube, Fluid was still at the Full mark on the Dip Stick, and a nice shade of Pink.
We unloaded our gear and suitcases, and walked up to our favorite eating place, Piezanos on the Boardwalk, where we had Dinner.
After we ate, back to the Apartment we went, and I tried to catch as many Cruisers going by with the Still Camera.
