Huntington Beach Elks Present Annual Classic Car Show and Chili Cook-Off

The show cars and the chili cook-off participants started to arrive around 6:30am. The weather “June Gloom” with moderate temperatures. By 8:00am the Huntington Beach Elks Annual Car Show & Chilli Cook-Off was ready “cook’n”. The Hot Rods were an eclectic group. Rad rods, muscle cars, hot rods, trucks, customs and restored classics were represented. More than 20 chili booths with names like “Uncle Tony’s Wop Sided Chili”, “Bad Boys Chili”, “Bun Burner Chili Shack”, and “Body Bagger Chili” were preparing their special brews. The contestants belong to the International Chili Society that establishes the rules for chili cookoffs and this one is a World Class Qualifier. A couple of the more interesting rules are, No ingredient may be precooked” and “Cooking period will be 3 hours”.
Good food, a nice raffle, entertainment, and awards were all ahead for the participants. All the proceeds go to the HB Elks Christmas basket program, serving the local military and families in need.
