One of my local and all-time favorites because of the quality of their ever changing exhibits and the unusual 90 acres of grounds that are continuingly being built on. Surrounded by thousands of acres of working farm land, off two lane winding roads it is a beautiful ride in the country. Unfortunately, recently before my visit those thousands of acres of farm land were sprayed with liquid fertilizer, the air was alive but in a way only a farmer could love. My reason for this trip was for the Duesenberg: Celebrating An American Classic exhibit and a Muscle Car exhibit that brought back more current memories. What makes the museum grounds so unusual is that the individual buildings started out as huge barns dissembled shipped from other states and then reassembled here. Many of these buildings are well over 100 years old themselves, the barn style continues with newer buildings except for the very newest which are recreations of actual auto dealerships going back to the 1920’s. They comprise of; a 1930 Ford Dealership complete with service, sales and parts areas, the 1948 ultra-modern design of an actual GM Cadillac dealer which was built in Ohio, a 1920’s Franklin dealership and a 1960’s modern Lincoln dealership. Other buildings contain collections from other manufactures, themed displays and memorabilia – it is a location that should be visited. Enjoy the pics!
