THE METUCHEN RESCUE SQUAD BENEFIT CAR-TRUCK-MOTORCYCLE SHOW
Metuchen, NJSunday, August 11, 2019
To quote Phil Rizzuto, “Holy Cow.” The 10th annual METUCHEN RESCUE SQUAD BENEFIT CAR-TRUCK-MOTORCYCLE SHOW blew every previous show record away - attendance highest ever, number of people helping pre-show highest ever, amount raised highest EVER.
I am still trying to wrap my mind around what happened in terms of the participant turnout, the waves of vehicles that comprised that turnout, and what we’ll be on track to donate to our local Metuchen Rescue Squad from our 10th annual show. I said it a number of times at the show, and I’ll say it again, THANK YOU EVERYONE for making this show the best ever.
I also need to thank our “First Responders” as a group (Police, Fire, and EMS), who participated in the brief ceremony dedicating the Show “Special Cancellation” of the U.S. Postal Service Stamp honoring all three branches of those who are there to protect and serve. I would be remiss if I didn’t also thank Sarah Carr of the U.S. Postal Service, who came down from the upper most corner of New Jersey to represent the U.S. Postal Service, and put the beautiful pictorial “Cancellation” on the Stamp applied to the Postcards supplied by Ed Van Eckert and Maria Portales from our local Farmer’s Agency in Metuchen New Jersey.
There’s an expression of “it takes a Village”, and the 10th annual THE METUCHEN RESCUE SQUAD BENEFIT CAR-TRUCK-MOTORCYCLE SHOW was solid proof of that concept. After many years of going it alone pre-Show, and with only day of Show Staffing help, the combined efforts of Ed van Eckert, Bob Maitland, Tyreen Reuter (Metuchen Boro Improvement League), WOLD Radio, Mike Inhat (Metuchen VFW), my Son Martin, my Wife Beverly, Chris Lasko, John Myron, Dan Granato, the Street Dreams Car Club, Staten Island Kar Klub, Edison Light Cruisers, Mike GELNOVATCH (NJ Cruise News), and countless others in both the real, and Social Media world, and our Sponsors (Show Benefactors), this Show what was as fantastic as it was, and I can only hope, and ask they can do the same for next year.
So one last time, THANK YOU EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!
