Back in 2005 San Luis Roadsters hosted their 32nd Annual Run at the famed Santa Margarita Ranch, with hundreds of street rods in attendance…to make this a memorable event, the club included 4-banger timed races on the ranch airstrip, also inviting a large contingence of pre-16 motorcycles for the day, adding to the fun, which included live music, buffet lunch in the historic barn at the ranch.
Now, every year since, San Luis Roadsters members past and present have hosted this event, with the support of Ron & Carol Mosher, the F.A.S.T. national directors…
This year two San Luis Roadsters ‘youngbloods’ stepped up to run the event, hopefully well into the future. Tim Edwards, and David Wheeler have been into the car scene since birth, have built many cars over the years, and currently own several cars each, both having ‘bangers’ that when they get a chance between overseeing the event, try to get in a run or two themselves…
There is a large turnout of both racers and street driven hot rods that show up each year, many from out of state, so unique is the event. In memory of longtime San Luis Roadsters member, builder, and all around nice guy, Mike Spangler, they present $ 500.00 to the fast car of the day, as well as the best hot rod on display, this year’s awards going to Jim Eckford with his fast ’27 T roadster, and Keith Bush taking home the $ 500.00 for his beautiful black ’32 Ford Tudor that he has owned since the sixties.
Put this on your calendar for 2020, you don’t want to miss it!
