Rhinebeck 2012 Dust Off
Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Rhinebeck, NYSunday, May 6, 2012
I picked up my buddy, Carl, at 6:45 AM and we headed west for Rhinebeck, NY for the Spring DustOff Car Show & Swap Meet; We always get off the Turnpike as soon as we can and take the backroads thru the small towns and countryside so that we might see some wildlife along the way. We were not disappointed as we saw a bear with 3 cubs, a deer, 2 wild turkeys, dozens of Canadian geese and ducks; Unfortunately we also saw a roadkill deer and red fox.
Ran thru a lot of fog on the way, but it cleared out; It was cloudy part of the day, but the sun came out and warmed things up. There was definately a huge number of venders with all kind of neat stuff and "LOTS" of cars in the show and in the Car Corral. 2 standouts for me were a Sam & Chip Foose built Ford Shoebox now owned by Skip Barber and the Andy Kassa '32 coupe. We met up for a real short meeting with our buddy Charlie who was off and running looking for parts for his '34 Chevy Coupe Pro-street project. Carl picked up a couple of NSRA approved gas cans that he needed as he's getting his '55 Chevy ready for the the drags after
a long departure from the sport.
On the way home we stopped at our usual eating place while the Kentucky Derby was on all the TVs. All in all a very enjoyable day. Hope you enjoy the pictures I took! Walt
