Brian's Daytona Studebaker in front of HotRodHotLine |
One of the premier events that the Pacific Can Am Zone of the Studebaker Drivers Club produces is the Northwest Overdrive. This 30th Annual edition was hosted by the Boise, Idaho based Snake River Chapter May 20th. This group put on a great event based at the Riverside Hotel in Boise where we gathered and kicked tires Saturday afternoon until time to cruise to Sonic to join with 5 other Boise area car clubs. Forty seven classic cars, rods, customs enjoyed the evening there.
Sunday morning the tour guides got the cars lined up for the run to Idaho City. There was a line of 37 Studebakers wandering through the Warm Springs neighborhood towards the first stop at the Lucky Peak reservoir. We took advantage of the view to take a few photos before moving on up the hill to Idaho City. After parking the cars we had a tour of the Boise Basin visitor’s center, Catholic Church and Odd Fellows hall. Lunch was served at the Boise basin Seniors Center. The 75 guests were able to wander through the local stores and enjoy the historic town.
After our return to Boise we had a wonderful banquet, awards and raffle with background live bluegrass music. Our thanks to the Boise group for all their hard work making this yet another memorable Northwest Overdrive. Brian Curtis
