Metuchen Rescue Squad 3rd Annual Benefit Car-Truck-Motorcycle Show
Metuchen, NJSunday, August 12, 2012
What can I say, well, I can say holly cow, WHAT A SHOW! On the heels of a disappointing turnout last year for the Metuchen Rescue Squad Benefit Car-Truck-Motorcycle Show, came this year’s absolutely phenomenal turnout, nearly 90 vehicles in all, including a nice contingent of Motorcycles. This year’s highly successful Show didn’t happen by accident, though the weather did play a part in encouraging folks to attend, the success had many parents, including the NYC Mopar Club, whose members (Denise DeRenzo for one), took our event Flyer, made copies, and distributed them at events their members attended. The SIKK Car Club also brought a hefty contingent of vehicles to our event, as well as helping spread the word. Jay Bee (Jabaar Jones) through his connections helped get out the word about the Metuchen Rescue Squad Benefit Car-Truck-Motorcycle Show, and though at another Show in Passaic New Jersey, took the time to drive down from that Show, and participate in our Show. My partner in crime, Alan Regen handled the Vendor sign-ups, Trophy ordering, Goodie Bag stuffing, and Ad Booklet printing, among other jobs, and day of Show, my Son Martin shined, filling in and taking control where needed, without even so much as a nudge from Dad. We also had help (day of Show) from Aaron Blessing, Mike Comisky, John Myron, Justin DeStefano, Harrison Regen to name a few. Of course, the nearly 90 participants, and ALL their beautiful vehicles, made the day, made the Show, and made a year’s worth of effort worth EVERY minute. One notable highlight, was the couple who drove 3 hours from New York State, just to show their Motorcycle at our event, and a very nice one it was at that (a White Suzuki).
Justin Hopkins of Bill’s Ineffable Auto, our Mayor (Tom Vahalla) came down to pick the vehicles they admired most and our crew of Day of Show rounded out our proxies for the Sponsors who weren’t able to be there in person to pick a vehicle. I also want to thank our DJ, Tracey Tanner, who did a masterful job of spinning the tunes, and making announcements as needed. Not to be forgotten, were the Members of our ALL volunteer Rescue Squad, who gave of their time to be with us at our Show, and who came to the rescue (pardon the pun), of one of our Staff, when he started feeling a bit ill. If I missed thanking ANYONE who helped make this Show a success today, PLEASE accept my apologies, ALL help was deeply appreciated.
