AMERICAN GRAFFITI NIGHT AT THE WOODBRIDGE OLIVE GARDEN CRUISE NIGHT OF 8-28-2012
Olive Garden in Woodbridge, NJTuesday, August 28, 2012
Some of the participants arrived at the Cruise Night (8-28-2012) as early as 3:30 P.M., even though the event was scheduled to start at 6:00 P.M. officially, expecting the Parking Lot to fill up well before the starting time, given that this Cruise Night’s theme was American Graffiti, and one of the most notable stars of the namesake movie, Paul LeMat was to be on hand this night. Surprisingly though, even by 5:00 P.M., there still weren’t that many vehicles in the lot, and some of us were wondering if there would be a good turnout for this special night. Any such fears were quickly extinguished as the six o’clock hour rolled around, and the vehicles started pouring in one after another, quickly overrunning the available spaces, and forcing a few of the later arrivals to park in the travel lanes.
In addition to Paul LeMat (a.k.a. John Milner in the movie), there were several Deuce Coupe look a likes, with one coming from Maryland being a dead ringer for the one used in the movie. Paul LeMat was on hand the entire evening, signing autographs, and talking with the eager fans who lined up by the registration tent to see the star of American Graffiti.
There were a number of regulars (as in vehicles and owners) in attendance this night, but also more than just a few new vehicles, making for a nice selection of vehicles for the spectators to come and see. Our gracious
Parking Lot Waitress, Lucy, was on hand, once again taking food orders right at the vehicle owner’s vehicles, and bringing the food out when it was ready to the hungry participants. DJ Chuck Leonard entertained the capacity crowd and this was certainly one memorable night for all who participated in this event.
