As you may already know, the dogs are not funded by the county. The handlers’ salaries, vehicles, etc., are in the budget but expenses for the dogs, such as food, veterinary care, and training exist only on private donations.

This year’s show was a lot of fun. We had some really neat items for the live auction, and once again, the K-9s were there doing demonstrations. After each demo, the handlers walk the dogs through the crowd so that you can ask questions, take pictures or pet the dogs. We gave away very nice plaques to the first 150 entries.  After the cost of the plaques, 100% of the monies raised go into the K-9 program. The money does not go into the Sheriff’s general fund, but into a separate account specifically for the K-9s and no money comes out of that fund unless it is a verified, legitimate K-9 expense.

There are no classes for the show cars so any truck, car or bike was welcome to enter. There were three special pick awards – Ed and Suze’s award, the Sheriff’s award and one from the Mohave Valley Fire Chief.
