10th Annual Festivals of Speed St. Petersburg, Florida
St. Petersburg, FloridaFriday, April 5, 2013
The Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world – a unique summer weekend that brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport royalty to create the largest car culture event in the world. The Car Show portion of this elaborate event took place in Vinoy Park in St Petersburg. FL. This event is a true celebration of motor sport and all things automotive.
The 2013 Festival of Speed theme will celebrate the best of the first 20 years of this, the world's most popular motor sport and car culture event. The event focused on highlights from the Festival's glittering history, featuring the biggest, best, fastest, loudest and most outrageous vehicles of all time.
So many fine exotic vehicles were on these grounds. Those vehicles included Aston Martins, Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz, Lotus, Pantera, just to name a few. Several older vehicles such as that Packard Phaeton and the 1938 DeLage Aerosport. Older Dragrace legend cars, road race cars plus the later model specialty cars such as the Lingenfelter Corvette.
It is hard to follow the vast number of vehicles in this part - I couldn't even begin to count them but they were all fantastic. So was the crowd. We stood on line for twenty minutes for admission before 10:00 am and when we left at 1:30 pm, fighting our way through the on-coming throng of viewers, the line was even longer.
An interesting feature of the 'Festival of Speed' is that on Friday, a special event was held in a hangar at the Tampa airport which included private planes, yachts and cruisers plus even more exotic cars along with a grand reception - this event is a fine affair.
