The Pacific Coast Dream Machine Show is held at the Half Moon Bay Airport ( Also used a a Drag Strip from 1957 to 1969). The track is so close to the ocean that many records were set because it was almost
sea level, and had such good air.
The car and plane show today has a little of everything, such as cars, planes, steam engines, land speed cars, and bikes.
The free live music is always great. I really liked the 11:30 show with Pel & the Pelicans. A very large and talented group of people.
Back to the cars. Rare military machines came and the ground effect Streamliners were interesting. Larry Knapp brought his 1966 Mustang that he bought new and drag raced in A/FX NHRA class. Larry is a fun guy to visit with and swap old stories. The WW2 planes did not fly, the fog was low and did not burn off.
In the late afternoon when I left the show I went to Main Street and bought cookies at the Half Moon Bay Bakery. Owner Andy Audermahr has photos of famous drag racers on the walls. This is a must see stop when in the area. Dean
