Culver City Car Show 20170Culver City Car Show 20171This tasty Chevy Triple Carb rolled in thanks to Jimmy Sodano, who builds custom tri-power set-ups for custom applications.The Best of Show Award went to 1931 Cadillac brought by Abraham Shipe, who had never attened a car show previously.This outstanding 1915 Model T Ford Roadster was built by Iraq war veteran Ben Dennis as therapy while he recovered from wounds.Jay Garocochea’ 1951 Mercury “Led Sled” garnered the Mayor’s Choice Award – the owner is a 20 year veteran of Culver City police department.A classic tailgate Party thanks to the spacious trunk of this 1957 Chevrolet BelAir.Christopher Ameruso’s Swamp Rock band kept things jumpin’ and thumpin’. Note the poster of the Batmobile, built by George Barris for the ‘60s hit TV series.Esam Metry’s “Dukes of Hazard” ’69 Dodge Charger won Best Mopar. And yes, it had the Roadrunner horn.Serafin’s 1958 Chevy Impala Convertible sports ton of special features including a continental kit – 24 years in the same familyA 1956 Chevy and a 1956 Caddy convertible share the sunny day spotlight.The Best Street Road trophy went Zack Norman’s 1932 Cadillac powered hotrod, which featured all WWII aircraft instruments. Zack also built a Bonneville Record-holding electric powered motorcycle.The “Best Ratrod” Trophy Winner – a crusty cool ’35 Ford - runs a Chevy motor, thus its name, “Frankentruck.” The builder is Leif Gantvoort.Don’t call it a golf cart! This super rare early ‘80s Zoe Zipper 3-wheeler microcar was made in CA. Powered by a 50cc Honda motor, it could transport one occupant in unique style, as unique as its current owner Roger McGregor, who also brought his supercharged Kaiser. Note Ferrari badge attached to Zipper just for fun.“Best Foreign Car” went to a Swedish-built 1965 Volvo 1800S driven in by David Guelff.“Best Flames Award” – a 1932 Ford Hot Rod “burns” with its 390 HP motor thanks to owner David Dennis.Who ya going to call? The Petersen Automotive Museum brought several vehicles to the show, including the “Ecto 1”… the original one from the Ghost Busters movie.Just bought! This 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 saw its drive train and chassis built in Derby, England and fitted with a Barker Barrel Side Tourer coach-built body. Only 2269 Phantom 1s were built in the UK, and this one was brought to the U.S. just recently by new owner James Rice.Billy Davila’s labor of love – a restoration of a rare last year production 1963 VW 23 Window Deluxe Microbus, aka the “Samba” - was actually one of the most valuable and desired classic vehicles at the show.Lynda Kay, in major hair, belted out ‘50s and ‘60s classics.
