Seven weeks to show time!
It is officially seven weeks until the doors open to the NZ Hot Rod Association (NZHRA) National Hot Rod Show incorporated with CRC Speedshow at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland on 21-22 July. Sanctioned by NZHRA and celebrating NZHRA?s 50th Anniversary, entries have exceeded 100 and are currently under going the selection process to fill 70 spots in order to achieve a wide variety of hot rods, street machines, race cars and custom cars on display.
Hosted by Harbour City Rod Club (Glen Eden) and Southside Streeters (Howick), the members of each club have successfully attracted businesses to sponsor three significant awards while offering a larger target audience which the CRC Speedshow attracts. Protecta Classic Insurance has sponsored the People?s Choice award which is voted by the public visiting the show. Frosted Glass by Design has sponsored the coveted Sweepstakes award for the highest ranked show car in the judging procedure. Rocket Speed Equipment has appropriately sponsored the Best Nostalgia Award.
Another attraction to the show is the Ray White Boulevard of Dreams featuring some of the best and newest hot rods and street machines on display. Another attraction is Mainfreight Shipping Hot Rod Highway and there is also a nostalgia area showcasing some of NZ?s most iconic and original hot rods for a real trip back in time. The Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association (LVVTA) recently celebrated their 20th anniversary and have confirmed their attendance showcasing the professional safety regulation aspects of the hobby.
Car set-up is on Thursday 19th July with a media afternoon on the Friday 20th July. The show opens to the public on Saturday & Sunday as per CRC Speedshow?s opening times and details. NZHRA affiliated members and their partners (not mates) are entitled to a 25% discount on admission price to the CRC Speedshow when they show their NZHRA affiliation card. The discounted price is $15 each instead of $20 each. Visiting hot rodders will also be entitled to park in the preferred parking area for hot rods, customs and classics. There is a full schedule of entertainment planned for car show entrants including the awards banquet and auction on the Saturday evening.
