PART #: 6901-3HKR

This exclusive proprietary black ceramic coating offers the nostalgic look of the past as well as the aggressive look of a modern high–tech build. It also offers a more refined texture and appearance than is possible from painted finishes. With a satin sheen it has a unique look of its own and in addition to providing a more menacing look it also provides all the corrosion resistance of traditional silver ceramic.
The Darkside coating also provides improved thermal resistance as compared to traditional silver ceramic (1700° F vs. 1300° F) making it highly recommended for supercharged or nitrous applications as well as for reduced under–hood temperatures.
Fits 255–302 CID Small Block Ford Engines; 1.625" Primary Tube; Port Shape: Same As Port

Installation Notes
Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated Headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated Headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust Manifolds or old Headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. Please call Hooker tech service at 270–781–9741 for additional information regarding ceramic coated exhaust products. The use of header wraps can cause the header tubes to crack or rust due to excessive heat and moisture build–up. Hooker does not recommend the use of header wraps as this will void the warranty.

Features
•Formulated to withstand extreme temperatures (stability rating is 1700° F vs 1300º F on silver ceramic) without discoloration and maintains excellent adhesion even after repeated thermal cycling
•Provides a higher heat tolerance threshold than available from silver ceramics (ours or any of our competitor’s) and is therefore recommended for any applications producing elevated exhaust gas temperatures, such as when using superchargers and/or nitrous oxide systems
•High-efficiency thermal properties limit heat migration through the header assembly, which in turn lowers under-hood temperatures for more performance
•Increased corrosion protection ensures long service life and maintained appearance of investment
•Provides unique styling enhancement that is equally pleasing in either a nostalgic retro application or a modern hi-tech build. As this coating is not burnished after its application, the surface appearance is more consistent than that of a silver ceramic coated header. Be different and go black.

Hooker manufactures tubular steel exhaust headers, H-pipes, X-pipes, and mufflers for performance applications. The core processes for this facility is bending, welding, painting, and ceramic coating. All equipment is tooled for various tube diameters.

Eaton-Leonard CNC benders are used for the high volume production, and Eaton-Leonard NC benders are used in the special product cells. A new Keins CNC bender has recently been introduced to the special products cell to reduce changeovers and improve bending capabilities. All welding is done by skilled operators using a combination of Miller and Lincoln welders. Exhaust systems are manufactured in either 16 or 18 gauge mild steel tubing in either high temp black paint or ceramic coating. Stainless steel exhaust systems are also available for strength and reliability.
