The Allard Chrysler Action Group (ACAG) has announced that Draper Tools has joined the list of businesses that will be supporting the restoration of Europe's first dragster - Sydney Allard's 1961 Allard Chrysler, owned by the National Motor Museum of Beaulieu.
Draper Tools, established in 1919, is based in Chandlers Ford, not far from the National Motor Museum. Draper Tools is hugely respected and a much used automotive industry trade supplier being a one-stop-shop for professional mechanics, motor factors, MoT garages, and automotive repair workshops.
"I would like to thank Draper Tools for their support," said ACAG Chairman, Brian Taylor. "With the 354 Chrysler engine switching from nitro to methanol, it meant htat we didn't need the pressurised fuel system on our starter trolley. We wanted to replace this with a neat tool box tocarry equipment likely to be required during the start-up procedure and Draper had just the job with their blue 2 drawer unit.
"After conversations with Mark Smith and John Draper, they came up trumps and the unit was prepped at Chandlers Ford for us to fit to the trolley at the next Work-In Day at Beaulieu," continued Taylor. "I look forward to inviting them to the museum once the box has been installed."
Draper Tools' Marketing Director Clive Richardson really enjoys the look of the installed box on the trolley.
"Draper Tools is pleased to provide on of its tool boxes to the Allard Chrysler Action Group," Richardson said. "It's great to be able to have our brand associated with a project like this and we wish them the best of luck with the restoration of such a legendary machine."
