To celebrate the launch of a new Speedway Motors T Bucket fender kit, five Speedway Motors employees decided to use that kit in a ground-up T Bucket build. The catch? Actually, there were two - first, the build would use only Speedway Motors parts, and second, four of the five employees were complete novices to car building.
They started with a "rough draft" of the car, put together by a more experienced friend, and proceeded to deconstruct it piece by piece, learning how it all fit together. Then they cleaned it up, planned out the build strategy, and got started building.
There were plenty of bumps along the way (for example, due to a procedural error, they got sand in between the races and the rear axle housing and had to replace the races as a result), but that was expected. The team - nicknamed the Bucket Beauties - learned quickly, and by the time they started tuning up the BluePrint 383 S/B Crate Engine, they were getting pretty comfortable with the tools and tasks of car building.
The Bucket Beauties and their gorgeous T Bucket
Eventually, the team put the finishing touches on the car and, after admiring her appropriately, photographed every angle. Take a look - the Bucket Beauties' T Bucket is a nice car by any standards, and knowing the builders started out as a group of novices just makes the accomplishment more impressive!
