Team Parts Pro captures first place at the 6th Annual Race and Performance Expo!

The final ranking for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge (HROT) at the 6th Annual Race and Performance Expo in Illinois this weekend are in!  Team Parts Pro from Thomas County Central High School from Georgia won with a remarkable time of 23 minutes and 38 seconds!  The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow (HROT) pits high school auto shops against each other disassembling and reassembling a Chevy V8 motor for the best time, to win trophies and scholarships.  Each team had five students who practice for the competition as hard as any normal High School sport.

This year’s HROT season starter was held at the Feb 23-24 at the 6th Annual Race and Performance Expo in St. Charles, IL.  RP Expo has hosted HROT for six years now, and keeps expanding the amount of Teams each year. This year there were 24 Teams attempting to qualify with a time of 35 Minutes or faster to earn a spot at the Hot

Rodders of Tomorrow National Championship at the 26th Annual PRI Show in Indianapolis, IN. 8 of 24 Schools qualified for the Championship which will be this December 12th – 14th 2013. Tim Odom President of Parts Pro a sponsor HROT was in attendance to watch his Team win first place at the RP Expo.

It is hard to image the team coordination and concentrated speed of action needed to accomplish this feat in under 35 minutes.  (Please click the line at the end of this Press Release to see a YouTube video of an event similar to this last weekend.)  Those experienced in the automotive hobbies and industries marvel as they know the complications that arise when working with these often demanding machines.

The Race and Performance Expo has hosted HROT for the last six years and had grown to be one of the many great attractions at the show.  Regular attendees are encouraged by the Challenge as it is a clear avenue to recruit young talent into the high performance aftermarket industry.  The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow is reversing the trend of High School Automotive Programs being cut from curriculums by helping them improve their enrollment.

The next HROT event is at the Skills USA Georgia demonstrations March 21-22 at the International Convention Center on Atlanta.
