WEST TAKES THIRD NMRA-TQ FEATURE OF SEASON AUG 18, 2012

Bakersfield, CA., Aug. 18 – Four-time NMRA-TQ Midget Series champion Chuck West, of Clovis, won his third NMRA-TQ Midget main event of the season in race six Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway. He started seventh and led the final six laps in the 15-lap open-wheel feature during the weekly multi-class stock car racing program on the third-mile clay. He drove his usual No. 38 West Evans Motorsports Stealth/Suzuki 750cc and increased his current point lead from eight to 14-points (371-352) over his car owner/first cousin.
Scott Dobson missed the last event on August 4 but came back strong in his own Stewart/Honda 750cc. He led the first nine laps and finished second in his fourth race this year. Dobson moved to seventh in driver point standings. Evans came from sixth starting to place third in his No. 36 Spike/Bob Wirth Suzuki. TQ rookie Don Kiefer started third and finished fourth in his ex-Baker Racing Ellis/Honda. Second year TQ driver and 2011 TQ rookie of the year Mike Black, 22, drove his one-off Don Vesco-built car to fifth after winning his first main event August 4. Pole starter Dave Lambert was the sixth and final finisher who completed all 15 laps. Adam Baker and newcomer Britt Grissom (No. 43) did not finish. West and Evans won the pair of 8-lap heat races.
