Here at KOULtools, we’re all about cutting down your investment in Band-Aids when working in the garage. Cutting your hand up on the metal barbs that coat Army Navy rubber hoses not only hurts, but it’s also frustrating and cuts into the amount of time it takes to complete the project. This is why our AN Hose Assembly Tools and EZ-ON Hose Press have been so successful with classic car enthusiasts.
With that being said, we’ve invested our time in creating yet another useful tool for cleaning up irregularities in a flared tubing. Something of which our founder Dick Raczuk knows the industry has a need for.
The Surseat P-51 comes with 37° and 45° lapping heads and works with 3/16″ to 1/4″ tubing.
Don’t you wish there was a way to clean up flared tubing ends before assembly? Well, we’ve come up with tool that does just that – the SurSeat Lapping tool. Before you assemble your fluid transfer lines, it’s important to make sure the flair on the tube has a nice finish. The Surseat Lapping tool is designed to provide you with that “lapped” finish.
According to our shop owner and the creator of the SurSeat Lapping Tool, Dick Raczuk, this tool should help the mechanics out there get a better seal on their delicate fluid transfer lines.
“We’ve been grinding and lapping our engine valves for 100 years. Why????? So they don’t leak. Since I am a hands on guy myself, I had some leaky lines. Tightening the fitting didn’t stop the leak. I made a small lapping tool and cured the problem. I happened to mention this to my friends and they all wanted to know what I did. So, I said there’s a need for this – what it’ll do is, you still use your same flaring tool, and after you flair the tube, the second operation is to use the SurSeat, and lap that flair in. It’s got different heads, 37 to 45 degrees, coated with diamond dust. It smooths out the seat of the flair. It also comes with different collets for the different sizes of tube. A few twists of the lapping head and you are ready to assemble.” - Owner of Koul Tools, Dick Raczuk
The Surseat “Minis” are used for 3/16″ and 1/4″ brake lines.
The SurSeat Lapping Tool will smooth out those irritating irregularities after flaring the tube. They cause you to spend even more time on your project than you anticipated. If you’re tired of cutting up your hands and dealing with leaks in the fittings you’re repairing, investing in the SurSeat Lapping tool is the best way to go.
From Koul Tools
Since the invention of stainless braided rubber hose, racers and mechanics have been fighting the problem of installing it into the socket part of the assembly. If your lucky and get a clean cut on the end of that hose, you might get it in. Most of the time a little fuzz appears on the hose end and the battle begins. It is not only time consuming, it can get bloody. KOUL tools has delivered a solution that makes the assembly a snap. Manufactured of a high tech composite, it is virtually indestructible. No need to worry about vise marks or wearing out. Just insert the socket into the tool, twist the hose in, and in less than 10 seconds you have it assembled. You can repeat this several times without recutting the hose end. The tool can pay for itself the first time you don't have to scrap some hose because it got too short trying to clean up the end. You'll be amazed at the amount of time you'll save. After using this tool, you will say to yourself, "KOUL".
