In this wonderful world we call Street Rodding there are a number of terms for the type of cars we have. There is of course Street Rodding. That is when you take an old car or truck and up date it with a newer motor and trans, install new or upgraded suspension, add power breaks, power steering and some times air, modify the body and even give it a custom paint job. Then, you have the Retro Rod which has some of the same modification as a Street Rods but staying with the original look. Next, we have Rat Rods. Rat Rods are of an early 50's vintage Rod look. Most are left in primer or have a satin coat. White Walls are a must. An early Hemi adds a nice touch. And lets not forget the Low Riders. What can I say about the Low Riders air or hydraulic rides that bounce in and out of the shows that hasn't been said? All that said, I would now like to introduce you to a new category. Classic Rodding. Classic Rodding you say, what is that? Classic Rodding is when you take an old classic ride like an old Rolls, Jag, Bentley and a like and update it with a newer type motor like a Chevy, Ford or Dodge, add an automatic trans and yes power steering. In some cases changing from 6 to 12 volts is needed. Keeping with the original look is a must but upgrading the drive train for better performance and dependability is essential. Enclosed are some pictures of my 53 Bentley that we did just that. It looks like it did in its youth but its been updated with a new Chevy drive train and BMW power steering. "THATS MY STORY AND I'M STICKING TO IT." Enjoy. |
