The stage is set and ready for another season of great shows. Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will be kicking off its 2016 event season March 4-6 in Scottsdale, Arizona, bringing together over 2,500 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, and trucks for three days of true American hot rodding run. There will be food booths, the AUtoCross grill, and live music on Saturday and Sunday. This event has become one of the "must attend" events on the Goodguys schedule and brings together hot rodders from all over the US and Canada.
Goodguys events go back to 1983, when official car nut Gary Meadors founded Goodguys as a way to get car people and hot rod aficianados togethe to show off their cars, trade ideas, and have a little fun. His vision behind these events was simple: to welcome all genres of American car enthusiasts with a lean towards V8 powered, low-to-the-ground eye catchers like hot rods from the 30s & 40s, lead sled customs from the 50s, and more. What started over 30 years ago is now a strong, 21-event series that allows car guys (and gals!) to meet and hang out with other car guys (and gals!).
At the season opening 7th Spring Nationals, fans will get a close-up glimpse of just how eclectic the modern day hot rodding scene is. After 30 years, the Goodguys core message is still the same - having fun with cars. Acres of 1972 & earlier show cars will fill the grass polo field of WestWorld in Scottsdale.
For those who have a need for speed, the shrill sound of rubber meeting pavement will fill the air with excitement as competitors in the Goodguys AutoCross, a closed performance race course, vehicle speed & agility meet to battle it out in a weekend-long fastest-car-wins contest of speed and skill. Returning this year, the Goodguys event season will showcase the AutoCross Shootout FInals qualifying at each event. The Duel in the Desert, the Final Shootout, will take place at the 19th Southwest Nationals, November 19 right back at WestWorld.
The Goodguys AutoCross for Kids, a program that benefits the Austin Hatcher Foundation for pediatric cancer, kicks off at the 7th Spring Nationals, offering attendees the chance to donate to an amazing cause and take a ride with a Pro Driver on the AutoCross course. The program will take place on Friday and Sunday during the Pro class at the top of the hour. The program is a yearlong initiative with Goodguys and the Austin Hatcher Foundation and it offers the hot rodding community the opportunity to be involved and turn their passion into compassion.
"Goodguys events are family events," said Marc Meadors, President of Goodguys. "The hot rod/car community is a huge family and bringing the Austin Hatcher Foundation into the fold is a win-win for everyone. We hope to do great things for them again this year through the AutoCross for Kids promotion in raising awareness and funds in the fight against pediatric cancer."
There is no shortage of things to keep you busy at the 7th Spring Nationals. There will be a midway featuring multi-million dollar custom big rig tractor railers, a giant used car parts swap meet, and activities for the kids.
The Goodguys 7th Spring Nationals gates are open Friday and Saturday from 8am to 5pm and Sunday from 8am to 3pm. General admission is $20, kids 7-12 $6. Parking is $5. Visit www.good-guys.com for event tickets or to register a show car.
