Spring Dustoff
Rhinebeck, New YorkSaturday, May 3, 2014
On Saturday, May 3rd, 6:30 AM, I picked up my buddy Carl to make the trek to the Spring DustOff at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. After a couple of hours and 112 miles later we were there. The DustOff is a 2-day Show and Swap Meet with Street Rods, Customs and Muscle Cars on Saturday and then Antiques and Classics on Sunday. The grounds were packed as usual and we poked around the Swap Meet till noon, had lunch and then hit the show field. We thought we'd see our buddies Charlie S., Bill Y. and Tom P., but as happens at a large show like this it didn't happen, but we did see several other guys that we hadn't seen in a long time. Lots of really nice cars from all over the NorthEast. Three of my favorites were a '33 sedan with a special mix of dark green/pearl paint that was almost black, until the sun hit it; a really radical '67 Karmann Ghia powered by a Viper V-10 that was simply incredible, and a Pro-Street Hillman Panel. On the way home we made our usual pit stop for supper with the Kentucky Derby in the background. Home before dark, tired and hurting 'cuz I'm an Ol'Geezer, but looking forward to more shows and cruise nights coming up in our area.
This is one of those Not-To-Be-Missed trips that you should get to if you have the chance! You won't be disappointed. The Hudson River Valley Antique Auto Association does a fantastic job with this show every year and I for one look forward to next year.
I hope you enjoy my pictures and hopefully more will be forthcoming!
Keep on Building, Cruising, Rodding & Racing!
