Eagle Field 1/8 Mile Drags are held on a old Army Air training Runway just off highway 5 near Firebaugh Calif, also  near Fresno. Eagle Field is a great place almost in the middle of nowhere, it is not hard to get to, and the area around it is farm land.

This race was  called the 4Th Annual Fresno Drag way Reunion. The Race was open to pre 74 cars and trucks. Gasser's, Hot Rods, Dragsters, Muscle Cars and more run . This is a Flag man start race, and it is "Run Whatcha  Brung" . It  is part Nostalgia so you see a lot of older race cars that have been parked for a few years, and others that have just been built so the owner can have fun. Every run is a grudge run, so you just ask other car owners if they will run you.

I met Chief there. He is the last official flag man starter from Fremont Drag Strip. Chief retired from Fremont after he did use the Xmas tree a couple of years, and Chet Carter took over until Fremont was closed. Chief went on to other things in his life, but he came back to Eagle Field to show us his flag man style. Chief has a very unique trick, he has a long loop on the flag, and it is around his wrist, he will spin or throw the flag and it makes a circle, so he can catch it in his hand again. ( I do not know how much he had to practice, but he is still very good at this)  He does not jump in the air, and his hand motion is very smooth, I am sure the drivers in his day had to be on to his quick moves of the wrist. It was great to meet a Drag Race Legion and see history repeated again.  Dean
