2nd Annual Dragstrip Riot
Orlando, FLSaturday, October 20, 2018
The 2018 - 2nd Annual Dragstrip Riot, was presented by the Misfires Car Club and Orlando Speed World. The drag race portion of the event is a Nostalgia event for all pre-1972 interpretations of an American steel and/or Fiberglass hot rods and/or drag cars raced from the 1940s thru the 1970s. There also was a car show, many vendors, food and even a 50's style drag race gal who started them off with a big Flag Waving jump! The MISFIRES are an Orlando based car club. They were formed in 2000; by like minded individuals, who honor the golden age of grassroots Hot Rodding and Customizing. They believe in modifying or restoring classics the old fashioned way, with blood sweat and tears. Primer paint only means they have not yet finished the bodywork or saved up enough money for a proper job. While only 9 members strong their talent base is 2nd to none. From chopped top Customs, to 40’s era period correct Hot Rods, they represent all that’s cool! There were 985 Spectators, 150 Race cars registered and over 130 show cars. The weather cooperated beautifully, it might have even been a little TOO HOT! There was such a cool turnout and great racing; plans are already underway for a Drag-Strip RIOT #3 - be there or be square!
